I\u2019ve been work\u00ading on a new short story for the flash fic\u00adtion web\u00adsite Litra\u00adnaut<\/a>. Actu\u00adally I star\u00adted it in Decem\u00adber. It took me ages to come up with a story idea, but as soon as did, the story flowed very quickly. So much so that actu\u00adally it will prob\u00adably become a much big\u00adger piece in the future. I\u2019m think\u00ading of writ\u00ading it as a Script for a drama.<\/p>\n

How\u00adever, since that ini\u00adtially flurry of writ\u00ading, it has taken me ages to get it all to come togeth\u00ader. Part of the prob\u00adlem is because the size of the concept has increased so much that I\u2019ve really struggled to keep the size of the story down. It was only meant to be about one thou\u00adsand words, but it\u2019s cur\u00adrently about three thou\u00adsand. How\u00adever, it has been split pretty much in two and will be released as a two parter\u2026<\/p>\n

Any\u00adway, here\u2019s the open\u00ading. And hope\u00adfully I\u2019ll have it fin\u00adished and with Litra\u00adnaut soon.<\/p>\n

\n\u201c\u2026New Year\u201d, she\u2019d said, \u201cHappy New Year.\u201d Then she kissed him. That was the last thing Tim remembered. One minute they\u2019d been singing Auld Lang Syne, and shak\u00ading hands. There had been the sound of Big Ben chim\u00ading the new year in over the radio. There had been party-pop\u00adpers and blowers, and the sounds of fire\u00adworks out\u00adside. There had been cheers, and then that moment. That moment that seemed to slow down. That moment where she had lent in toward him, her lips pre\u00adcari\u00adously close to his. That moment when he could feel her breath lap over his lips. That moment when all he could think about was about clos\u00ading that circle. Mov\u00ading his lips toward hers. Clos\u00ading that draughty mouth with his.
